About the Course

Wallace State's Commercial Driver's License (CDL) program prepares students for careers in the transportation industry through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on driving experience. Students complete the required theory training either in person or through a hybrid online option before progressing to behind-the-wheel instruction with experienced trainers. During the course, students learn vehicle operation, safety regulations, route planning, cargo handling, and the skills needed to safely operate commercial vehicles. Upon successful completion of the program, students test on campus with a Wallace State-certified ALEA examiner. Students who pass receive the documentation needed to obtain their official CDL license. Multiple training pathways are available for Class A and Class B licenses, including hybrid, refresher, upgrade, and grant-funded options, allowing students to choose the program that best fits their goals and eligibility.

Once your form has been submitted, a member of our team will contact you from cdl@wallacestate.edu or from 256.352.7452 with your next steps and registration information.

Below are our current CDL training dates. While course dates are generally expected to remain the same, they may occasionally shift by one week.

Day Course: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. for 3 weeks for Class A and 2 weeks for Class B
Night & Weekend Course: Thursday & Friday, 4:30–9:30 p.m., and Saturday & Sunday, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. for 4 weeks for Class A and 3 weeks for Class B
